We had an awesome weekend. Ty’s brother Cody flew in from Arizona and joined in on the sight-seeing and exploring. Saturday morning, we headed into DC and Ty and Cody got to kayak on the Potomac river. Jack and I hung out at the boathouse and went for a little nature walk.
After the boys got back, we visited the National Cathedral. It’s actually the second largest church in the country. We got to go inside and see some beautiful stained glass windows and architecture. This is also where the President goes for Sunday worship. According to Cody's BlackBerry, one of the gargoyles on the North tower is supposed to Darth Vader... ?? Random.
After wearing ourselves out sight-seeing and filling up on some delicious Mexican food, we came home and the boys crashed.
On Monday, we drove down to Richmond. We had never been there and Cody was flying out of the Richmond airport. First, we went to the Petersburg battlefield. They had a neat visitor's center and several trails walk along. We had near-record-breaking highs that day. We are getting to experience what 85 degrees with 85% humidity feels like.
Then we drove around Richmond for a couple of hours. We saw the Confederate White House, the Capitol building, and several other historic sites. We found ourselves on the cutest little with houses all built in the early 1900's. We also found a cute little cafe for dinner.
Thanks for coming Uncle Cody! Anyone else want to visit? |

Thanks for taking good care of Cody and showing him a good time =) Wish I could have been there!
Looks like you just continue to have the time of your lives! What an awesome experience! Did you have to buy a sofa so company would visit? I want to take Katie to that area of the country next year after she studies US History. You'll have to give us some good pointers. It's starting to get warm here - but certainly not 85% humidity - yuck!
I do! I so want to come! And spend a few months seeing everything!
YES! YES! I AM COMING, in about 31 hours!!!
