Philadelphia

Ty had a business trip in Philadelphia last week and I tagged along for fun. Mom and Dad were gracious enough to watch our kids for the week (thank you!) so it felt like a second honeymoon for me and Ty. We also celebrated our ninth anniversary that week!

Our hotel - a beautiful historic building downtown

Our first meal - a roast pork sandwich from Tommy DiNic's in Reading Terminal Market. This sandwich has been voted by some as the #1 sandwich in America.

An Amish meat market

Late night pizza and calzones one night from Paulie's Pizza - delicious!

We met up in Chinatown one day on Ty's lunch break.

A Liberty Bell selfie one afternoon while I was sight seeing by myself

Getting an authentic taste of Philly at Geno's

City Hall - this is actually the tallest masonry structure in the world

A little gelato to celebrate our anniversary

One of the first churches built in Philadelphia

Eastern State Penitentiary - this is where Al Capone was in prison.

A lighter dinner at Rybread Cafe. By this stage of the trip salad was the only thing that sounded good to me.

The Rocky statue in front of the Art Museum

No big deal...just stretching my legs on the Rocky steps...

Our last morning - a tour at Independence Hall

Easter Sunday

We had a great Easter this year at my parents' house. They spoke about their mission in their ward, so lots of my family came to listen. We had a big meal after church and then the kids got to play with their cousins all afternoon.

Sunday morning Easter baskets. I love these little sleepy faces.

Camping Trip #2

This weekend, we went camping near Camp Verde. I'm feeling good that this is already our second camping trip and it's only April. Ty has a goal of twelve camping trips this year, so we'll see how we do.

I told Audrey not to eat these berries because they would make her sick. She now lovingly refers to them as "diarrhea berries." The kids had a fun time picking them, though, and making pies and soups with them.

Dinner was quick and easy with the BBQ on our camper!

We took a little hike to West Clear Creek and it was beautiful.

Yeah...we swim and fish in our undies, too...

The perfect ending to our trip was a little geocaching! We found our very first one called White Bridge Cache near Camp Verde. I think we could get very addicted to this.

Easter Eggs

The kids had a fun time coloring Easter eggs last night.

Elliot thought these were candy eggs. He kept asking me when he could eat his for dessert.

Look at these cute kids. Could I be any luckier?

Trying to decide which egg is their favorite

An Afternoon at the Lake

We borrowed Granna and Papa's boat and spent an afternoon at Lake Pleasant. We fished, played on the beach, ate, and napped -- a perfect day!

Jack learned how to drive the boat and even took the wheel for a few minutes. He was beaming!

I don't think anything can put a kid to sleep as fast as rocking in a boat does. Audrey took a 20 minute nap on me. This never happens, so I enjoyed the sweet moment.

Elliot was very excited to use his fishing pole all by himself. This is what Santa brought him last Christmas.

Mimi and Papa are Home!

My parents finished their 18-month mission to Italy! Their flight got in at about 10pm, so the little grandkids weren't at the airport, but we had a pretty good little crowd waiting for them. I'm so proud of them and so happy to have them home.
