Jackson the Beaver

When I put Jack down for naps, he doesn't always fall asleep immediately. Sometimes he plays with his stuffed animals for several minutes, but I usually never worry about him or check on him. A few days ago, we had a little "experience." Jack was working on falling asleep and got really quiet all of a sudden. Even though he was silent, I could still hear his body moving. I waited a few minutes and then listened again. Still silent. For some reason, I just felt like I needed to check on him this time. When I went in his room, he was covered in drool and a black, powdery substance. It took me a few minutes to figure it all out, but I eventually realized that he was chewing right through a layer of black paint on his crib. Here's the evidence.

Luckily, he didn't go through to the raw wood. I sure hope it's non-toxic! It's a good thing he's so dang cute!

Gecko

Today, we went to my parent's ward in Florence. Ty willingly took Jack for the third hour (he lost in paper-rock-scissors), so I went off to Relief Society without a care in the world. Little did I know what would occur in Elders' Quorum...

Ty let Jack roam around the room during the lesson. He's happier this way and usually doesn't get into too much trouble. After a few minutes of Jack being off on his own, Ty found him in a corner and noticed that he was chewing on something. He instantly ran to his aid and spent several seconds coaxing the object out. To Ty's total disgust, he pulled out a two-inch long baby gecko carcass. That's right. My son was chewing on a dead lizard.

Anyone have a good idea of how to sanitize a mouth???

Grumpy

A few days ago, Andrea told me that she wanted to see a picture of Jack acting grumpy to prove that it actually does happen... So, when Jack was being a total grump the other day, I quickly pulled out the camera to get my proof. This is what happened:

The tears instantly dried up and we couldn't stop smiling! Sorry, Andrea. I really tried. Jack just loves the camera too much! I won't give up, though.

Closets

Jack absolutely loves closets. If I ever cannot find him, I can be pretty sure that he is in some closet somewhere. He gets so excited when I find him, too. It's almost like he's trying to play hide-and-seek. What a silly little guy.

Jefferies Family Reunion

For the Fourth of July weekend, I went on a trip up to the Jefferies Family Reunion in Utah. Unfortunately, Ty was not able to get work off, so Jack and I went with my parents. On our way up, we stopped in Vegas. Just for old time's sake, we ate at Railroad Pass - a definite family tradition. Too bad they didn't have the $0.99 breakfast special like they did 15 years ago...

We spent the afternoon walking the strip. Jack was such a trooper.

Gucci?...no!

Our hotel room.

The first of many buffets...

The next stop was Spanish Fork to see some of my Hansen cousins. This is me with Janna, Becki, and Anna.

We stayed with my Uncle Ron and Aunt Reta.

Jack slept a lot in the car.

We finally made it to Heber Valley Camp, where the Jefferies Reunion was held. I got to see so many cousins that I hadn't seen in years! It was so much fun and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. This is me with Anna, Katie, Michelle (and baby), and Whitney.

The Scott Jefferies family. We had about 50% turnout. Not bad.

On the first day, we did a challenge course. One of the challenges was getting everyone over "The Wall." Somehow, I made it. I'm not quite sure how it happened, though, because my eyes were closed. Yikes.

The next challenge was a high ropes course. This is by far the stupidest think I have ever done. I was the first to go in my group. I just wanted to get it over with. I knew if I chickened out that Ty would be disappointed, so this was all for him. I love you, Ty!

Right about here, I started pondering the Plan of Salvation...

I did it! And I don't know that I'll ever do it again...

We all slept in cabins. It was a long night, considering all the people that snore in my family, but we survived. It was cold in the morning!

My beautiful niece Sariah Rebekah.

Anna and I getting ready for a cruise in the canoes.

My awesome cousins in order from oldest to youngest! I'm somewhere in there...

What a fun trip! I'm glad to be back, though. When I got home, Ty surprised me. He had painted Jack's room and the hall bathroom, made me a night stand, and hung curtains! Whoa! I might need to leave town more often... Sorry ladies, but he's taken!
