Family Dinner

My brother Joey is in town this week and we all got together at Dave & Becki's for a family dinner tonight. I don't get to see Joey nearly enough--this is only the third time since I graduated high school. Jack is really getting attached to Uncle Joey, too.

Swimming Lessons

Today was Jack's first day of swimming lessons. It was pretty hilarious. He's doing them with his cousin Brock and they both pretty much just cried the whole time. Jennie and I got some good laughs. He'll be going three times a week for the next four weeks. Hopefully, he'll learn a lot.

Four Years

Well, as of 11am, Ty and I have been married for four years. It's hard to believe how quickly it all has gone by. Our wedding was such a perfect day. I was with the right person, at the right time, in the right place.

Now, I have to just take a minute and write about how amazing my husband is and why I am the luckiest girl in the world.

Ty is such an easy person to be around. I can always be myself and not worry about what he's thinking. I've always been so comfortable around him. In fact, one time when we were engaged, I almost went to the bathroom in front of him. We were brushing our teeth at Andrea's house and I started unbuttoning my pants. He gave me this weird look and I realized what I was doing and had to kick him out.

Ty is my best friend. When we met, we started out as friends first. We would do our homework together, and then afterward, he'd try to analyze my relationship with my boyfriend at the time and tell me all the reasons that we needed to break-up. Even though I didn't take his advice, he didn't give up on me. We continued to hang out, sit next to each other in class, and doodle on each other's notes. I really felt like we fell in love as friends before we even started dating.

Ty is determined. He always gets the job done and doesn't like to take "no" for an answer. When my RA kicked in a few months after we were married, my life became a constant stream of doctor's appointments. I kept getting the run-around from the BYU health center. They wanted to keep transferring me to different doctors within the center, instead of referring me to a rheumatologist. Nothing was getting accomplished and I felt so helpless. Ty took this all personally and spent hours playing phone-tag and talking to anyone that would listen to him. By the end of the night, I had a referral. He did something for me that I couldn't do for myself.

Ty is one of the hardest workers I know. When he started last year at McGladrey, he made a goal to get all four sections of the CPA exam done during the summer. Many of his co-workers told him that this was a nearly impossible goal; some take years to complete the exams. Ty stuck to his goal, though, and accomplished it. He's made a name for himself at the firm and McGladrey recruiters are now telling college students about the guy from the Phoenix office who passed the exams in 3 months.

Ty is an amazing father. He loves Jack more than anything. When Jack was a newborn, Ty had to take him to school one day so he could show him off to all his friends and teachers. When Jack had night-feedings, Ty would take care of them on the weekends for me. When Ty gets home from work, he can't do anything without playing with Jack for 15 minutes first. When Jack is asleep, Ty has to go in and check on him and tuck him in tightly.

Happy anniversary, Ty! Thanks for being the best husband in the world! I love you SO much!

Rascal

Jack surprises me everyday. He's always learning new things he can do and new messes he can make. Here's Jack sitting in the emptied-out tupperware bin. He loves pulling everything out of it and getting in like it's his own little car or something. I push him around and he loves it...until he falls over.

A little mess of post-it notes...

Not only can Jack open our child-proof cupboards, he can get inside of them and lock himself in! Scary!

Daddy saved him.

This is how I found Jack this morning, while I was getting ready for church! He has NEVER done this before. What am I going to do??

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter! Jack was very excited to get his basket that the Easter Bunny left him this morning. There's nothing like peanut butter cups at 7 in the morning!

Here's a picture from the photo shoot this morning. What a stud in his new Easter outfit! We sure love this little guy!

Eggs with Mom & Dad

This morning, we dyed Easter eggs with Jack before Ty had to go to work. After we finished, I found the hard-boiled eggs in the fridge...meaning we accidentally dyed a carton of raw eggs... Oops! Good thing Jack didn't throw one!

Eggs with Grammy & Grandpa

Jack got to color Easter Eggs with Grammy & Grandpa Jefferies on Friday and he loved it. It was such a mess, though. By the end, his fingers were stained blue and green. Afterwards, he hunted for the eggs in their yard and he knew exactly what to do from his trial run at the park a few days earlier. He was a pro!

Asking "Where'd it go?"

Easter Egg Hunt

One of my friends organized an Easter Egg Hunt this morning at a fun park. This was Jack's first experience hunting for eggs and he loved it. It was so cute to watch. He was also very excited to learn that the eggs had candy inside of them! He's going to love getting to do it all over again this weekend.

Couch Potato

This is Jack watching "The Price is Right." It's his new favorite show. He'll watch it by himself while I get things done around the house. Notice the string cheese in one hand and the remote in the other.

Boo-boo

Jack just about split his head open tonight. He was running and tripped and his head collided with a corner. It was very traumatic. Thankfully, it didn't bleed much, but it was an instant black-and-blue goose egg. If the skin would have broken just a bit more, I am pretty sure we would have gone to the ER for stitches. Hopefully, a butterfly and some glycerin did the trick. I was really worried about a concussion, but I think he's okay. This is the hardest age for getting hurt! I feel like it's just one thing after another.

Trying to get calmed down...binkies help a lot at a time like this...

Already smiling again!
