Memorial Day in Page

We went to Page for Memorial Day weekend this year and had a wonderful time. Here's a few things we did:

Biking, scootering, walking, and anything outside!

A lot of geocaching

 A McDonalds lunch date

Some silly time

A lot of playing at the park

More boat-driving lessons

Some fishing

 ...and catching!

A lot of lake swimming

Relaxing on the beach and tubing

Elliot wakeboarding

Audrey wakeboarding

Madi and Jack also opened a massage parlor in Granna and Papa's living room and made some serious cash!

R2R

One day in Page, Ty went with Rob, Leslie, and McKenna and hiked from the north rim of the Grand Canyon to the south rim. The hike took a total of 14 hours and they traveled about 25 miles.

End of First Grade

School is out for the summer! Jack had a great last week of school. There was a history fair, an award ceremony, and a pizza party. We were so proud of him for starting at a new school this year and making lots of new friends.

Mrs. Conner and Jack

Each teacher recommended two students from their class to receive a citizenship award on the last day of school. Jack got one of them! Nice work, bud.

Philadelphia

Ty had a business trip in Philadelphia last week and I tagged along for fun. Mom and Dad were gracious enough to watch our kids for the week (thank you!) so it felt like a second honeymoon for me and Ty. We also celebrated our ninth anniversary that week!

Our hotel - a beautiful historic building downtown

Our first meal - a roast pork sandwich from Tommy DiNic's in Reading Terminal Market. This sandwich has been voted by some as the #1 sandwich in America.

An Amish meat market

Late night pizza and calzones one night from Paulie's Pizza - delicious!

We met up in Chinatown one day on Ty's lunch break.

A Liberty Bell selfie one afternoon while I was sight seeing by myself

Getting an authentic taste of Philly at Geno's

City Hall - this is actually the tallest masonry structure in the world

City Hall from behind

A little gelato to celebrate our anniversary

One of the first churches built in Philadelphia

Eastern State Penitentiary - this is where Al Capone was in prison.

A lighter dinner at Rybread Cafe. By this stage of the trip salad was the only thing that sounded good to me.

The Rocky statue in front of the Art Museum

No big deal...just stretching my legs on the Rocky steps...

Our last morning - a tour at Independence Hall

Easter Sunday

We had a great Easter this year at my parents' house. They spoke about their mission in their ward, so lots of my family came to listen. We had a big meal after church and then the kids got to play with their cousins all afternoon.

Sunday morning Easter baskets. I love these little sleepy faces.

Camping Trip #2

This weekend, we went camping near Camp Verde. I'm feeling good that this is already our second camping trip and it's only April. Ty has a goal of twelve camping trips this year, so we'll see how we do.

I told Audrey not to eat these berries because they would make her sick. She now lovingly refers to them as "diarrhea berries." The kids had a fun time picking them, though, and making pies and soups with them.

Dinner was quick and easy with the BBQ on our camper!

We took a little hike to West Clear Creek and it was beautiful.

Yeah...we swim and fish in our undies, too...

The perfect ending to our trip was a little geocaching! We found our very first one called White Bridge Cache near Camp Verde. I think we could get very addicted to this.
