Valentine's in Page

Jack got to make Valentine's cookies with Aunt Les and Madison this year. Poor Madi wasn't feeling the greatest. Hopefully Jack didn't add to her headache. :)

After Jack decorated a cookie for himself and me, he told me that we needed to do one for Daddy, too. Sweet boy.

Bryce Canyon Quilt Retreat

This past week, Lois and I drove to Ruby's Inn near Bryce Canyon for a FIVE day quilt retreat. That's right. Five long days with no husbands or children. It was so much fun. We took quilt classes, listened to guest speakers, shopped the vendors, and didn't prepare a single meal!

We each had a king size bed to sleep in!

Design stage of my "Jewelry" quilt. This class was a lot of fun. I can't wait to get this one all put together.

A little progress on Ty's man-quilt

This is going to be a July quilt. I will make several more of the little block on the top and they'll go all the way around the star.
I wish I could say this one was mine, but it's not. This is Lois' quilt from the Panguitch Quilt Walk last summer. I got to help with as few of the blocks and I love it. So beautiful.

It was amazing to work with so many talented and experienced ladies. I took one class with the owner of this company. They have some really adorable stuff.

Week 1

Well, tomorrow morning will be the one-week mark since Ty has been gone and I'm happy to report that I'm still alive and functioning! I wasn't sure there for awhile... It's easy to get overwhelmed, so I'm just taking one day at a time.

Ty is in heaven. He's enjoying every minute of his 15-hour days. He's learning a lot and excited to put it all into practice.

I have an apartment in VA! I just got the lease papers emailed to me today. It's a very small 2 bedroom apartment, but it has a bathroom and a kitchen, so what more do I need? I'm not sure about internet access yet. I'll have to figure that out. The plan is that I'll be driving out in March, if all goes well with Ty's schedule.

Other than that, we're just partying at my parents house. Jack is getting a lot of attention and Mom and I are working on lots of projects. Next week, we'll be heading to Granna and Papa's.

Trying on the new gloves and hat we bought. We're going to need them in VA!

I taught Jack how to play Battleship and it's his new favorite thing to do. No matter which space you guess, though, he always yells "hit!"

Last Day!

Well, today was our last day in our house. Tomorrow morning, I am dropping Ty off at the airport and he'll be flying to Virginia. Hopefully, in a few weeks Jack and I will be joining him. We've been talking about this days for months and dreaming about it for years. It's hard to believe it's finally here. We've packed everything into the extra bedroom and, about a hour after we leave, the renter will be moving in!

Good luck, Daddy! We'll be cheering you on!

Laugh of the Day

Jack: "Do you get out of bed when it's dark?"
Me: "No..."
Jack: "Critters do."

Pillow Kid

Jack loves gathering all the pillows from the whole house and taking them to the couch. He then asks Dad to throw them at him one by one until he's completely covered. The harder you throw them, the harder he laughs.

(I guess I need to get out of my brown-and-blue decorating rut, huh?)

Woods Family Farewell Dinner

Ty now has less than two weeks left before he flies off to VA. It still doesn't feel very real. We spoke together in church yesterday and it felt like our farewell to the ward, although there is a chance he'll be sent right back to Phoenix after training. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Ty's parents came down this week, and they took the opportunity to take us and Cody and JoEllen's crew out to eat to celebrate Ty's new adventure. We had a delicious dinner at the Elephant Bar.

Thanks Granna and Papa!
