Graduation Day

Our last day in Virginia was a wonderful day for our family! Ty's training was finally over and we celebrated with family all day and packed up the apartment. We had a great time living on the other side of the United States, but we're thrilled that Arizona is still our home.

DC with the Woods Family

Every day with Ty's family was filled with sight-seeing. If we weren't eating or sleeping (or doing hair) we were walking the streets. Here are a few pictures from the week:

Riding in style: Kenna with Jack (in Savannah's jacket) on one scooter, and Savannah and Madi on the other. This method of transportation was great! The little legs didn't get too tired.

Jamestown + Williamsburg

A week before leaving Virginia, Ty's parents, Andrea, Savannah, Leslie, McKenna, and Madi all came out to stay with us. We were able to get in a bunch of sight-seeing, including some things that Ty, Jack and I hadn't gotten around to yet. One of those things, was visiting historic Jamestown. Jamestown is an active archaeological site. Several artifacts have already been discovered and are on display in the museum, but you can also watch workers digging and sifting through the dirt looking for things. Very cool.

The next day we visited historic Williamsburg. We spent most of our time looking in all the cute little shops. We sampled salt-cured ham in the meat shop and chocolate-and-caramel-covered almonds in the nut shop. We also joined in a prayer service at a really old church that stands where the first church in Williamsburg once stood. It was very cool to think about our founding fathers worshiping in the very same place.

Virginia Beach

We decided to take a vacation this weekend. To live so close to the Atlantic Ocean for four months and never see it would be a shame, so we packed our bags and drove to Virginia Beach. It wasn't at all what I expected. It was sandy, warm, and calm! I don't think we could have asked for a more perfect day. Jack had a great time re-discovering the ocean and playing in the sand. The pictures speak for themselves:

This morning, Jack was playing with my hair while I was checking my email. He was just chattering away with comments like, "Oh, your hair is getting so long!" and "I love your pretty hair, Mom." Then he moved it all to the side and started inspecting my neck. He was quietly staring for a moment and then I heard, "Ew, you have a mustache on your back, Mom. We better try to get it off."

Memory Lane

Jack really likes playing around with "street view" on Google Maps. He could be on the computer for hours just looking up addresses he knows. I decided to show him some of the places we used to live and found this little picture:

This is the last Provo apartment we lived in before moving to Arizona. We moved in 3 months before Jack was born and lived here until he was 7 months old. It has been 3 years since we left...and that's our car parked outside. It almost brought tears to my eyes. I have such happy memories of this place.
